Gene Starr was a native of Falls City, and a highly creative and productive ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓian for all his 86 years. A plaque to his memory, donated by his colleagues and friends, states: "Engineer, Scientist, Educator, Humanist, Outdoorsman. For a span of over half a century, a pioneer, leader and creator of knowledge in electric power and high voltage transmission.
A 1923 graduate from ¾«¶«Ó°ÊÓ Agricultural College; professor of Electrical Engineering at OSC, 1927-54; Chief Engineer, Bonneville Power Administration, 1959-61; a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers; an internationally respected consultant and author on electrical energy until his death. Recipient of many prestigious honors and awards. A professional engineer of exemplary character."
